Tributes & Remembrances

Toffee Pops

Don't stand beside my grave and weep;
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond's glint on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awaken in morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush,
Of quiet birds in circle flight.
I am soft stars that shine at night.
Don't stand beside my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.

Kevin Smith from e.g.

I'd like to thank Kevin for being the catalyst for what has been an amazing journey of discovery - and self-discovery - for me. From first seeing his portrayal of Ares in Xena and Hercules, to becoming interested in (and chasing down) his other work, to wanting to learn more about his beloved homeland of New Zealand. Through Kevin, I discovered a small country with a huge heart. Words cannot express my deep gratitude for what he has given me, and I thank Kevin's family for sharing him with us, and for their tremendous sacrifices along the way. I mourn with all New Zealanders at the loss of this great actor, musician and comedian, and wonderful human being. He will always be an inspiration to me: his passion for life, his kindness, his humour, his humility, and the pure love that emanated from him, to everyone he met and in everything he did. My thoughts and prayers to Kevin's family and friends. May you find strength in the knowledge that he so deeply touched so many. Kia Kaha! - Julie
