Mixing 90s rock influences with a harder edge, snarling and sneering punk vocals, and a folkier sort of storytelling as well (as on the song “Exit 6”), The Nico Blues (from New Jersey) released their debut Blame the Boredom, Blame the Basements last summer. It was recorded, produced, and mixed by the band in their home studio, and can be listened to and downloaded (free of charge) at www.thenicoblues.com or www.thenicoblues.bandcamp.com. They’re making the trip up (in between snowstorms, I guess) to play at All Asia‘s ongoing CNC Indie Music Marathon, along with Skinny Cleveland and other bands “to be announced.”
