Flosstradamus

Flosstradamus

Here are four more bands that will be performing at Boston Calling, Boston’s own music festival, coming up September 7 & 8. On Saturday, following after Lucius will be Okkervil River and New England favorites, Deer Tick. On Sunday, to keep everyone dancing after Big Black Delta, is a beat-maker from Sydney, Flume and Chicago-based DJs J2K (Josh Young) and Autobot (Curt Cameruci), who go by the name of Flosstradamus. The line-up for this second Boston Calling festival is such that you have a stellar indie rock line-up on Saturday and the best of electronic, hip-hop, house and dance music on Sunday, for those who have a specific preference and can only make it for one day. Have a look/listen below at these four, and stay tuned for more of these “mini profiles” leading up to Boston’s big weekend.

Okkervil River ~ Saturday

Okkervil River has a new album, The Silver Gymnasium is due out September 3 on ATO Records. Check out “It Was My Season” below

Flume ~ Sunday

Flume is an electronic music project, created by Harley Streten from Sydney, Australia.

YOUR Band at Boston Calling?

Here’s something very cool. In association with Sonicbids, Crash Line Productions (promoter of Boston Calling) will be selecting two bands who will perform onstage at Boston Calling. This is an amazing opportunity for an ‘up and coming’ band (maybe a local Boston band?) to perform for an audience of thousands with major press presence and publicity. Talk about a high profile gig! You have to SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION by August 15, 2013 11:59 p.m. EST to be considered. Good luck!

Deer Tick ~ Saturday

John McCauley of Deer Tick just performed at Newport Folk Festival, but it you couldn’t make it to that, you have a chance to see the entire band at Boston Calling. A rootsy alt-country New England favorite, their next album “Negativity” is coming out on Partisan Records on September 24. For now, have a listen to “The Rock.” Ah, nice.

Flosstradamus ~ Sunday

Ok, so I’ll admit I don’t know a thing about Flux Pavilion and even less about remixes, but this Flosstradamus remix of a Flux Pavilion song (apparently) just got uploaded a few weeks ago, so here ya go. If you like this sort of thing, definitely check out Sunday’s lineup, as it seems like a great offering for electronic and hip-hop fans.

Boston Calling headliners are Vampire Weekend on Saturday and Passion Pit on Sunday. See my previous profiles of You Won’t & Bearstronaut and Lucius & Big Black Delta. More previews are on the way.
